Music

Music is central to the worship of God, linking emotion with intellect and allows the human creation of God its closest means of communion.  At Second Presbyterian Church we believe that through corporate experience in sacred musical arts created by inspired artists who take seriously the task of linking music and text, performed by artists who take equally seriously the task of recreating the sacred work of art, the worshiper experiences God's word in a more deep and complete experience.

Choirs

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir at Second Presbyterian Church provides musical leadership in the Sunday morning services.  They perform formal sacred music of various styles written by composers who were inspired to create works of art that communicates and teaches God’s word in a manner that amplifies the emotional content of the text.  They take the task of preparing and leading the choral musical offering seriously while at the same time having fun and enjoying each others fellowship. The choir, comprised of professional singers and talented church members, rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am with organist Jody Brown and director Dr. Kevin Ford.  They welcome new members by brief audition at any time. Vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles also contribute regularly to worship.

Children’s and Youth Choir

Our Children’s and Youth Choir, under the direction of Debra Noblitt, sings several times a year at special services. The choir is open to anyone in elementary, middle, or high school, and does not require a year round commitment. We are also delighted to feature children and youth who play an instrument. Come make a joyful noise!
